Our Origin

July 25, 2025, changed my life forever. It was a beautiful summer afternoon. Around 3:00 p.m., I left my apartment and headed to the community pool, expecting nothing more than a peaceful day to relax. I settled into a chair by the water with my laptop, enjoying the quiet atmosphere. Before getting into the pool, I called my brother, Luke, to congratulate him on his first wedding anniversary. It was a joyful conversation—one I never imagined would be the last normal moment of my day. Feeling refreshed, I decided to go for a swim. This wasn’t new to me. I had swum in that same pool many times before and never experienced any problems. Around 4:00 p.m., I confidently swam across the pool three times without difficulty. Everything felt routine. Then, in an instant, everything changed. As I began my fourth lap, a sudden, excruciating cramp seized my calf while I was directly over the 8-foot-deep section of the pool. The pain was immediate and overwhelming. My body locked up. I could no longer kick. Panic took over. I desperately fought to stay above the surface, splashing the water and screaming for help as people sat around the pool. I could see them, but my strength was fading with every second. Then… I slipped beneath the water.

According to the emergency medical personnel, I was without signs of life for approximately four minutes.

During that time, I experienced something that changed my life forever. It felt as though my entire life flashed before my eyes—from the day my mother gave birth to me up to the age of 32. Then, everything became still.

I was given a vivid vision of a large multi complex that would serve as a place of hope and healing. In this vision, I saw a facility dedicated to helping disadvantaged youth, individuals struggling with drug abuse, survivors of domestic violence, victims of gender-based violence, and advocating against rape. I was shown in remarkable detail how the facility should be built, how it should operate, and the impact it would have on the community.

Then, while I was still underwater, I heard a voice clearly say, “It’s not yet your time.”

Shortly afterward, a Hispanic gentleman jumped into the pool to rescue me. He attempted to perform CPR, although it appeared he was not fully trained. Soon after, emergency medical services arrived. The EMTs later told me that I had been clinically dead for approximately four minutes. They asked whether I wanted to be transported to the hospital, but I declined and returned home.

For the next two days, I remained at home, deeply traumatized and overwhelmed by what I had experienced. I struggled to process everything that had happened.

Two days later, I called Josephine Tweh and shared the experience with her. I also spoke with my friend Manny and later contacted Josephine Dixon. Together, we began discussing the vision and how to turn it into reality.

As we brainstormed, we considered two names for the organization: Second Chance and Another Hope. After much thought, I chose Another Hope because it best reflected the vision I had received and the mission to give people hope when life seems hopeless.

In less than two hours, our logo was created. Soon afterward, I made a call to Liberia to begin laying the foundation for what I believe is God’s vision—a mission to bring healing, hope, restoration, and opportunity to those who need it most.

That life-changing experience became the beginning of Another Hope.
